As the Andagi crew at Kamuela Hongwanji Mission wrapped-up their day of cooking the carb-loaded dough balls they used the extra batter left to dip hot dogs into it for lunch. This wasn’t something they sold to the public, it was their own treat for themselves. They even gave me one to try and it was pretty darn good. It was like a cross between a Waffle Hot Dog and a Corn Dog.
I told them next year they should sell it and even go one step further and use some Portuguese Sausage Dogs in there too. Of course I also suggested they batter and fry up some pizza slices too. Not exactly in keeping with a Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival but hey I bet they’d make a lot of money.
